Le faite de faire un son
โ€žLe faite de faire un son acoustique avec les mains, avec des materiaux, avec un microphone est tellement personelleโ€œ (Making an acoustic sound with your hands, with materials, with a microphone is so personal) Beatriz Ferreyra
In a live performance situation an associative net is cast out that refers to soundscapes and nuances of the soundworld that we call โ€œradioโ€. This unique acoustic space of radiophonic creation, a space without the resonance that calls for fictional acoustic scenarios to be built around each sound event, was a starting point and inspiration for us. In the archive materials – the tapes from Radio Belgrade that Svetlana acquired when working there, and interviews with the female protagonists of electro-acoustic music scene such as ร‰liane Radigue and Beatriz Ferreyra with whom Astrid did the interviews, we found echoes of the acoustic craft that resonate deeply with us. Accompanying and appropriating these recordings with our own sounds and with our performing setups, we call the audience to join this shared listening experience charged with historicity and reference, and to step into our own little radio lab that we establish with each live performance.
รฉ๐—ป
ร‰n first got involved with non-conventional fringe music in 1992, which he also started to collect. The following year, he joined No Wave, a show on Radio Tilos. The station, granted legal airplay in 1995, then saw him as host of the No Wave program. Between 1995 and 2000 he performed on-air concerts on a regular basis using the studio as an instrument. He called it ‘Self Organizing Chaos’. No Wave, still broadcast to this day, aims to showcase musical alternatives, broaden the notion of what we understand as music, and publicize rarely if ever heard music, contextualizing it with information about the performers, composers and stylistic lineage or sub-genres.
His concerts started off in the 90’s with mixes of his recorded material, later to involve performances on found and self-made objects. Supporter, later curator of Szรผnetjel festival, he is sometimes joined by guests in the creation of his late night No Wave radio shows.

Navigating between the domains of music and technology, social sciences Andrรกs is looking for nodes, conjunctures. He is trying to unfold how phenomenons resulting from the political, technological, ecological and societal aspects of European Cold War radio jamming manifest in sound; how can it be interpreted aesthetically and how this can be used for musical performances.

๐™€๐™–๐™จ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™™๐™–๐™ฏ๐™š is a project launched in 2009 by Peter Gonda and Lucia Udvardyovรก in order to learn about the underground music scenes of their neighbours. The project has spanned radio shows, a blog, concerts exploring upcoming music scenes of CEE countries, curation, lectures, etc. In 2013 they launched the Baba Vanga label. Over the years, the project has morphed and incorporated collaborations with the likes of Norient, Czech Radio, Resonance FM, Cashmere Radio, UH Fest, The Quietus, Resonance FM, etc. As of 2016, Easterndaze has hosted an annual festival in Berlin, inviting collectives from CEE and Berlin to collaborate. One of the outputs of this initiative is also a community radio collaboration that continues this year with a special live day broadcast.

The project attempts to reclaim lost sites, spaces and narratives by transposing notions around the “former East”. The project explores archival findings on the Eastern blocโ€™s transnational and transcultural phenomena to reflect on post-socialist transitions as pluriversal sites of knowledge production. Through concepts such as off-modern, hauntology and post-memory we seek to put the relationship of archive and memory into question. Organized by Olivia Berkowicz and Marianna Feher.
