💀 MA’IWA w/ Pándi Balázs

Ma’iwa is a collaboration project between two Hungarian electronic musicians MA’AM & AIWA,
was born in 2019 and was selected by Shape Platform in 2020. After ‘Goldfishing’, their new album
‘KIME’s tracks are pieces of sounds from a strange improvisation session with folk-like singing from
different times, and rhythmic drones and utopian ambient.
The result is conceptual brainstorming of two experimenting minds in spoken word, dream noise,
and various electronic genres – with many synthesizers.
MA’AM (Anna Makay, Budapest, Hungary) is a vocalist, composer and electronic musician whose
pieces are focusing on ancient languages in a digital environment. She works in the field of vocal
improvisation, sound poetry, abstract electronics, avant-garde, noise and experimental.
Also Budapest-based Lajos Nadhazi (AIWA) makes performance-based, genre-bending electronic
improvisations. His distinctive sound builds up of hazy melodies and overdriven drum machines
looping into the abyss.

Enough sound-flesh-ink to make a library shake in fear, but it’s Balaz’s knowledge of the importance of local & global culture as he is seen being a Hungarian Journalist of music and culture and mainlining the importance of maintaining a grassroots DIY hard work local aesthetic that keeps him firmly planted to the drum stool to blow minds in both swagger and swing knowledge.
